Marquee Sports Network named 2023 Regional Sports Network (RSN) of the Year
ROLE
Our team was tasked with brainstorming ideas for an Opening Day show open. I conceptualized and pitched - "How do players, fans, Wrigleyville, and Marquee Sports Network all prepare for Opening Day?" Working out in the offseason, buying new player jerseys, rolling beer kegs into local bars, practicing lineup announcements; there were many engaging, creative, and fun story opportunities. My team loved the idea and it was greenlit.
Over the next three weeks, I worked with my EPs to storyboard the piece, a freelance DP to execute our vision in the field and keep the project on budget, and our lead editor to bring the piece across the finish line.

ESPN's Vice President of Production,
Pete McConville, called it one of the best baseball highlights he had ever seen; I have always remembered and appreciated that compliment
ROLE
Highlight turnaround time at ESPN is quick. Regardless of the sport, there's no time to wait until a game ends, make a plan, and execute it. In the case of a baseball game, you have to develop a tentative plan, be prepared to jump into an edit bay by the 5th or 6th inning, while at the same time, be ready to adjust to a changing story and willing to start from scratch.
For this highlight, I identified two seemingly separate themes and turned them into a cohesive story. Collaborating with three separate teams and my highlight supervisor, Adam Strain, I was able to execute a creative highlight under strict time constraints. Out of all the elements I produced at ESPN, I'm most proud of this one.

Marquee Sports Network awarded 2023 Best Seasonal Coverage of a Team by an RSN
ROLE
Marquee Sports Network was at Spring Training in Mesa, AZ for two weeks. Our on-set team would send back 15-30 minutes of raw footage to be turned into "demos" - active, on-the-go conversations with players and coaches that provide the audience with a behind-the-scenes look into player preparation and performance.
As the content producer, my job was to review this footage from 2-3 different cameras, identify the best video and sound, and produce a cohesive and seamless 5-8-minute story. I was particularly proud of this demo because we captured both a rare glimpse into a professional team's preparation dynamic - conversation, tools, technology - and Marcus Stroman's Spring Training bullpen intensity and level of detail.

ROLE
As the SlugChamps: Guardians Chess Club show producer, in addition to executing a broadcast that resulted in 10K views on YouTube alone, I also pitched, wrote, and produced this tease. It set the tone for an almost 4-hour show that resulted in player, national media, and local media engagement.

ACCOMPLISHMENT
After consistently displaying an eye for recognizing and leveraging "great video" like this, I was tapped to produce highlights of the most significant events on the sports calendar - the MLB playoffs, Stanley Cup Playoffs, and Super Bowl 50
ROLE
Not all sports highlights are buzzer-beaters, trick plays, sweet moves, or last-second drama. At ESPN,
I learned how to recognize and leverage the "best video available"; I learned how to not just tell sports stories, but also human interest stories.
The 2016 NBA Finals had just concluded the night before. For many sports fans, it was going to be baseball, baseball, baseball for the next three months. The leadership group consistently challenged us as PAs - how could we make a baseball highlight in June, July, and August different than what was expected?
This highlight was an example of my recognizing the baseball story that people needed to see was off the field.

ROLE
As I transitioned from producing highlights to cutting short and long-form content for studio shows, I was entrusted to work with on-air talent, executing breakdown tapes for analysts like Tim Legler.
Producing highlights strengthened my ability to research assignments, notice themes as they developed, pitch ideas, and execute elements in an unpredictable live environment. Producing breakdown tapes and working with on-air talent was a different dynamic. These opportunities strengthened my ability to listen to and execute the vision of others.
